Our commitment to sustainability is also reflected in our use of renewable energy across our hotels. One of our most significant initiatives is the installation of solar panels at our properties.

Thanks to the Balearic Islands Energy Transition Investment Plan (PITEIB), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, Gran Sagitario has installed a solar panel system that helps us move towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy model.

Sagitario Hotels has received support through the de minimis aid programme to promote energy-efficiency and circular-economy improvements in tourist establishments. The programme forms part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU. This support has enabled us to implement specific improvements at four of our sustainable hotels in Menorca.

Specific improvements at the hotel

At Sagitario Princesa Playa, we have introduced low-consumption outdoor lighting, two automatic doors and outdoor waste-management stations.

This is important work and further evidence of our commitment and of the collaboration needed to move towards more sustainable tourism.

Menorca Biosphere Reserve

BGreenMenorca: sustainability with a local focus

Through the BGreenMenorca 2024 programme, Sagitario Hotels has begun implementing tangible improvements in two key areas of the funding plan: sustainable green spaces and water efficiency. Both initiatives form part of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Action Plan 2018–2025 and are promoted by the Consell Insular de Menorca.

A greener Menorca, with local support

Sustainable green spaces and biomass management

We promote native vegetation, efficient irrigation systems and habitats for local wildlife, improving landscape integration and biodiversity.

These initiatives improve maintenance efficiency while creating more resilient, sustainable spaces that are better aligned with Menorca's natural environment.

Water efficiency

We implement solutions to reduce water consumption and encourage reuse, including rainwater harvesting, water-saving bathroom systems and smart irrigation management.

Small technical decisions that, together, create a hotel model that is more responsible with the Mediterranean's scarcest resource.

This programme strengthens our commitment to a greener Menorca by involving our properties in practical, everyday environmental action. The Sagitario properties that have received this support are Gran Sagitario, Menorca Mar, Princesa Playa, Sagitario Playa and Petit Sagitario.
